Sesame Street’s famous Elmo met a legendary WTA star recently and it is none other than Billie Jean King. However, Billie Jean King is not the first celebrity appearance in the show from the tennis fraternity. Previously in 2015, the former world’s number one tennis player Venus Williams attended the Sesame Street show. Not only did she attend, she delighted her little fans by trying a game of tennis with the show’s famous Elmo.

After Venus Williams, Japan’s Naomi Osaka was also spotted appearing on the show. Her selfie with Elmo flooded the social media platform with adorable reactions. Now it is time for legendary WTA name Billie Jean King to taste the fun of Sesame Street.

Recently, the official Instagram page of Billie Jean King posted a photo where fans spotted the WTA legend posing with the show’s famous character Elmo on the set. Sharing the photo, Billie Jean King wrote- “You may have guessed it last week, but I am so excited to be a part of #Season55 of @sesamestreet!” 

Billie Jean King’s smile in the photo expressed that she was delighted to be a part of the show. At the same time, King’s presence surely helped the children to learn more about tennis. King attended the Sesame Street show on the day of International Women’s Day. King elaborated on the importance of celebrating this day.

She said- “Today and every day, we celebrate the achievements of women, past and present, and honor those who have worked to ensure those who have worked to ensure that women and girls everywhere are granted equal rights and opportunities,” Along with Elmo, Sesame Street’s first bilingual muppet Rosita. Rosita and Billie Jean King’s humble interaction helped kids to create a strong and respectful attitude towards women.

However, before Billie Jean King, fans spotted Naomi Osaka sharing a selfie with Elmo from Sesame Street in 2022.

Tennis Legend Naomi Osaka’s visit to the Sesame Street show brought many lessons about “amounts of melanin in our skin”

The four-time Grand Slam winner’s visit to this famous show brought many interesting aspects about tennis. Among these one significant one revolved around melanin. Along with tennis lessons, Osaka recommended that applying visors and sunscreens is necessary irrespective of skin color or tone.

While having a conversation with another muppet named Segi, Osaka said- “See, everybody’s skin has something called melanin in it, People with dark skin like you and me have lots of it . . . We all have different amounts of melanin in our skin. That’s why our skin comes with so many different colors.” 

Osaka felt delighted attending the show. She further said– “I have worked with many talented people in my career but sharing the stage with Elmo and his friends on Sesame Street was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me, I had a blast on set, made some new friends, and was able to talk about two things I am passionate about . . . tennis and education when it comes to sun protection. It was an honor and I am so excited for the episode to air.”

Billie Jean King’s presence at the Sesame Show on International Women’s Day will inspire many young tennis enthusiasts out there. More than that, the fans will be delighted to see Elmo and Rosita having a chat with the WTA legend.
