Alexis Ohanian will never stop fawning for his wife, Serena Williams. Being together for seven years has made no difference and the Reddit co-founder has nothing but sheer admiration for the WTA legend. Asked to give an anecdote following a hilarious incident mentioned by Williams, Ohanian found a way to praised his wife’s hard-working skills, showing why he deserves to be called the Husband of the Year.

Ohanian, quite regular on social media, tweeted a video of his interview with ET Now at ESPYS. Ohanian was asked this question referred to Williams’ statement during her presence on Hot Ones, where she mentioned attempting to drop a one million dollar cheque at a bank drive-thru. Mentioning how she never played tennis for money, Williams said, “I got my check, and it was a million dollars. Like, okay, I’m gonna go deposit it, I went through the drive-thru… and the guy was like, ‘Uh, I think you need to come inside for this,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, okay.”

Ohanian’s response showed a man deeply in love with his wife. “You know what I was floored, it was never about the money. Remember she started this as a child, she went on this journey of professional sport so early, and the priority was just being the best, and so even something we would all take for granted like of course you wouldn’t deposit a cheque that big, for her it’s just you know that’s a byproduct of doing the job and you know god bless her. At the same time, I think I was working either as a Pizza Hut cook or in a parking booth, so I was depositing cheques too but a little smaller.”

This Reddit co-founder’s statement helped people to understand how deeply Ohanian understands his wife. This is also because Williams also mentioned what tennis means to her in that show, Hot Ones. I never played for money, I played ’cause I loved the sport. I wanted to be the best. I wanted to win,” Williams said.

She also narrated a story which showed her focus in the sport. “So my tax guy, he would be like, ‘You didn’t get your money?’ and I’d be like, ‘Oh, I didn’t get that one in Zurich,’ ‘Oh, I forgot that one in Moscow’… I was just playing to win, and if I didn’t win, I wasn’t thinking. I was just so angry, that I wanted to find a way to get better and win the next time,” she said.
