Remember when Serena Williams bid adieu to the world of tennis and expressed her desire to grow her family? As she stepped away from her illustrious career, fans and pundits alike imagined she had a picture-perfect vision of family life, one that mirrored the same determination and excellence she displayed on the court. However, it appears that Williams’ idea of a perfect family is intriguingly different from what her entrepreneur husband, Alexis Ohanian, envisions.

Alexis Ohanian engaged in an interaction with Kanyi Maqubela in the latest episode of his podcast,Business Dad.The two delved into several prospects of life during the podcast, including their ideas about a family. Discussing the same, Ohanian revealed a time when his perspective about a family miffed Williams.

Taking to his Instagram on Wednesday, Ohanian shared snippets of the discussion.I once compared my family to a startup, with my wife as the co-founder. And she did not find it nearly as romantic as I did,the Reddit co-founder revealed. It was right after the couple’s five-year anniversary when Ohanian made such remarks.

Ohanian highlighted the importance of a father’s role in their children’s upbringing right from the first day in an interview in 2022. He felt if a father is absent in the earlier stages of a child’s development; it disrupts the mechanism. He went on to compare this with a startup while highlighting that he might receive flak from his wife over the remarks, who does not like comparing family with a business setup. “My wife would hate me for describing it this way, but we think of our family like a startup,” he said back then. But the ‘business dad’ seems to have taken a lesson.

In the latest interview, he said, “So I take that feedback. But that was bad, that could say a lot more about me, frankly.” Despite the different approaches and ideas, Ohanian has ensured his presence for his daughters Olympia and Adira. He is often seen engaging in adorable moments with them, taking them on trips, and spending some crucial time with them. Ohanian credits his wife, Williams, for making him the best dad for their daughters.

When Ohanian praised Williams for making him the best dad

Alexis Ohanian recently engaged in a candid interaction and opened up about the challenges of parenthood. He also delved into how the entire process helped him overcome his negative traits and the assistance that his wife and star player Serena Williams extended to him in becoming a good dad.

When quizzed, “What do you think is the key to home life,” Ohanian recalled his initial days and life after college. “In my 20s, I was a first-time CEO, right out of college. I squandered so many hours because I didn’t appreciate the routine and the discipline because I was my own boss.” But he did not fail to thank Serena, who helped her overcome the trait.

Becoming a father at 34-35, I knew I had to bring that (discipline and routine) into my life.” He further shared his emotions about Williams. “It didn’t hurt that my wife has lived an incredibly regimented life since she was a little kid, so she’s been an amazing influence and you just find a way to make it work.”

Despite the different traits and ideas of a family, the couple has ensured that they give the best to their children and have become the epitome of great parenting for many.
