Reddit co-founder and investor Alexis Ohanian has many investments, right from stakes in many start-ups to NFTs. However, one of his most valuable is the PSA card collection he owns of his wife, Serena Williams. Recently, he shared an Instagram story where he pulled out Rafael Nadal’s A-100 Card from his collection.

Alexis was visibly excited when he pulled Rafa’s card and looked at it in amazement for a moment. But then he compared it with his wife, Serena Williams’ cards and said, “not as good as Serena.”

Alexis has a huge collection of Serena’s cards, including an incredible 1 to 100 complete set of her rookie cards, which he adorably calls his “favorite grail” in their absolutely stacked trophy room.

Along with Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal, Olympia’s dad also has old sports cards of the elder Williams sister, Venus Williams. Nadal is the only athlete out of the three who’s competing in the ongoing Australian Open and will face the Italian, Matteo Berrettini in the semi-final on Friday.

Serena Williams sets record with her rookie card

Serena, known for her on-court records, has plenty of off-court records as well. Her 1999 Sports Illustrated for Kids Series 4 rookie card was auctioned for the whopping US $117,000. This is the highest amount for any female athlete’s card.

Interestingly, the next most expensive card belongs to Serena Williams as well. In the same auction, her second rookie card was sold for $96,000

Director of Marketing at PWCC, Chris Callahan commented positively on the sale. He said, “The sales also highlight the rapid growth in women’s sports cards over the past year. Through 2021, we saw a few records set for women’s cards. But the $117,000 sale is definitely a major step up as it more than doubles the previous record.
