After Years of Strong Amity, Meghan Markle Makes a Move Forward by Joining Serena Williams in Being Part of a Multi-Millionaire Venture

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s wife and the Duchess of Sussex, has adorned the headlines again! But this time, her personal life and choices aren’t in the spotlight, rather it’s her professional endeavors. WME, the renowned talent agency, recently landed yet another jewel in the form of Meghan Markle. Several talent agencies have been trying to get Markle’s signature since her 2020 California move with her husband. However, ultimately, it’s WME that has prevailed. WME represents a long list of public figures, which includes top-tier tennis athletes such as Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic.

Markle’s WME team will include some of the top talent agents of all time. Among them is Jill Smoller, who has worked as Serena Williams’ agent for a long time, and Brad Slater, who represents Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. This announcement signals the intent that Markle has to take her content creation ambitions to the next level.

The extent of WME’s representation of Markle is quite extensive

Variety provided the first confirmation that Markle has, indeed, struck a deal with WME. According to Variety’s coverage of the relevant developments, different WME departments will work together to lead Markle’s creative and business ventures. The departments will focus on overall brand-building, partnerships, and film and television production.

The deal will also include WME representing Archewell Inc., a public organization she co-founded along with her husband. Another area of focus will be inclusive of Archetypes, Markle’s official podcast on Spotify. For now, however, the deal will not focus on acting.

Variety’s piece that announced the deal also included some excerpts from a 2022 Markle interview. In the interview, Markle expressed her intention of promoting the original content of Archewell Inc. “So much of how my husband and I see things is through our love story. I think that’s what people around the connected to, especially with our wedding.”

Markle’s friendship with Serena Williams has entered its 9th year

2010 marked the first time tennis legend Serena Williams and Meghan Markle met. However, their friendship began in 2014. Since then, Markle kept turning up to Serena’s matches to cheer her friend on. The friendship was further cemented when Williams took charge of Markle’s baby shower.

August 2022 proved to be another highlight for the two friends, as Williams became the first guest to kickstart Markle’s Archetypes podcast. Williams has also supported Markle through some tough times. For instance, after Markle’s controversial Oprah Winfrey interview, which got the Duchess of Sussex plenty of negative attention, Williams referred to her as “truly noble” in an Instagram post.
