Is Naomi Osaka's weight loss journey a testament to resilience or societal pressure on new mothers?

On October 27, Naomi Osaka revealed her struggles and triumphs in losing weight after childbirth. She said, “There were moments this year where I felt really ashamed of my body…” Despite having been out of action for quite a while, she made a comeback this year and played almost 38 matches this season. Highlighting this incredible journey, she thanked her body, saying, “YOU ARE AMAZING!” Osaka has now put a cryptic post on her social media featuring Kanye West’s one of the songs.

In her recent IG story featuring Kanye West’s song, ‘New Body’, Osaka put up a picture of herself in which she was perhaps reflecting on her weight loss. However, she raised a fair bit of curiosity with an interesting caption. She wrote, “How unhinged am I if this was my music choice?” The lyrics of this popular song go, “Can’t wait to see your new body. Let the Lord of love be your new body. You’ve been born again in your new body. So it’s on to get in your new body, woah…” Whether these lines were aimed toward the renowned American rapper or she is just reflecting her love towards this popular rapper is unknown!

Naomi Osaka previously confessed that she struggled a bit after seeing other mothers who “seemingly” regained their pre-pregnancy figures. She said that she dedicated hours and hours to workouts in the gym in order to shed the pregnancy weight, but she found herself a bit discouraged with her slow progress. It was really a tough time for this tennis champ! However, now she’s embracing the journey she has had over the last few months.

“Most weeks would feel similar to the previous week and the weight didn’t disappear overnight so it was a bit disheartening. To get to the point I’m at now was definitely a journey, an adventure I know that I’m still embracing. All bodies are different and I appreciate mine for how it is,” are a few words from her latest IG post from yesterday.

Like Osaka, Taylor Townsend, who gave birth to her son, Adyn Aubrey on March 14, 2021, also had to walk a similar route while coming back to the professional tennis. “The bounceback, it’s difficult,” commented Townsend on Osaka’s post.

Interestingly, Naomi Osaka and Kanye West have run the headlines altogether in the past.
