Iga Swiatek is wreaking havoc with her sensational form at the 2025 Australian Open. However, her performance got overshadowed by an unwanted double bounce incident on Wednesday at the Rod Laver Arena. Playing against Emma Navarro in the QF, when the score was 2-2 in the second set, she returned a drop shot from the American. However, it was found later that the ball had bounced twice already before Swiatek hit it. The chair umpire decided not to review it due to Navarro’s late response, thus fueling a controversy. Since then, Swiatek has been facing a lot of backlash. But one hardcore Swiatek follower couldn’t resist retaliating!

A popular tennis YouTuber, who goes by the name @lisickifansss on X, uploaded a clip on Wednesday on their channel named Sabinelisickifansss. Apparently, this YouTuber is not an admirer of Swiatek. They have clips either mocking her or showing her in a negative shade. The latest video from them was no different as it compiled alleged ‘unsportsmanlike’ moments from Swiatek’s career where she was seen distracting her opponents, per the channel. Not to mention the video also featured the controversial double bounce clip from the QF match between the Pole and Navarro.

As it turns out, one avid fan of Iga Swiatek noticed the YouTuber’s new video. On X, @_Someone04_ decided to express their rage and displeasure, as they wrote, I know what your channel is about but now she will receive even more hate because of videos like this!” while adding, “Have some shame, I’m so disappointed…”

Talking more of the match, Emma Navarro was clearly not happy about not getting a video review for the double bounce. Per the rule, she had to stop playing immediately when she realized the ball had bounced twice. Instead, she kept playing until the game was completed in the second set. However, the World No.8 believes the rules should change now for good.

After the match on Wednesday, Navarro had a lot to say about the QF match. In the press conference, she didn’t shy away from expressing her disappointment over what happened at the Rod Laver Arena. Also, she clarified that there was no bad blood between her and Iga Swiatek saying, “It’s in the moment; like is said, it happens so, so fast. I don’t know if she knew or not. Ultimately, it’s up to the ref to make the call. If she didn’t see it, then, you know, it is what it is, I guess”

Speaking about the incident, she urged for an improvisation in the video review rule. Navarro said, “It’s tough to place blame on anybody. It’s a tough call, and I think the rules should be different. I think for sure, we should definitely be able to look at it afterward and decide.” But here comes a twist in the story.

Her quarterfinal opponent and former World No.1 Swiatek doesn’t really think there’s a need for any change. After the match, she said, “I wasn’t sure if it was a double bounce or I hit it with my frame. It was hard to say because I was full sprinting. I don’t remember even seeing the contact point.” According to her, it was the “umpire’s job to call it. I was also waiting for the VAR, but I didn’t see it, so I just kind of proceeded.”

When asked if the video review rule should be changed, the Pole didn’t seem convinced. “This is the first time something like that happened to me, so I’m not sure,” she said. Continuing further, she added, “But I think they already had a lot of time to think it through. So, if there would be some better option, I think tennis would use it.”
