Serena Williams knows how to manage tricky situations both on and off the tennis court. Whether it’s handling an opponent with ease or dealing with her 5-year-old daughter’s wishes and tantrums all at once, she does them seamlessly. The 41-year-old American tennis icon and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, recently welcomed a second baby girl into the family. But a few weeks prior to her birth, Olympia, their elder daughter, was asked to make a big sacrifice for her younger sister.
In spite of her willingness to make a significant sacrifice, she managed to throw a temper tantrum in front of her mother, revealing her genuine emotions. Let’s look at the interaction between the tennis legend and her daughter as she was attempting to control her outbursts.

Recently, the 23-time Grand Slam champion shared a video on her YouTube channel where she talked about decorating baby Adira’s room. But in that video, there were moments when her five-year-old daughter was unhappy with the room her younger sibling was getting. The room that Baby Adira was getting, previously, was Olympia’s playroom. But with things changing, she pulled off an angry fit, showcasing her disapproval.
Nevertheless, in the video, Williams revealed how her 5-year-old was not happy with the playroom going to her sister, and yet she made that sacrifice. But after that, she stopped her mother from entering her daughter’s room and said, “You can’t go here.” Further, Williams handled the situation quietly and replied, “Am I not supposed to be in your room? I’ve been kicked out a bit places.”
Just after that, when the Florida native was making some arrangements in the new nursery, Olympia barged in and pulled off a tantrum by throwing things here and there. All the while, her mother kept on saying, “Hi ma’am, how may I help you, ma’am? Excuse me, excuse me.”
Even though she tried hard to show her angry side to her mother, in the end, she had to make that sacrifice, and nothing changed. Now, this is not the first time the American tennis legend shared a little sneak peek of her daughter’s tantrums. Last year, she also revealed her priceless epiphany, as she shared her struggle trying to handle her daughter’s endearing impatience.

Last year, the 23x Grand Slam Champion took to her Twitter account to share her experience of motherhood. One thing was clear from her humorous take on the situation. Even though she has faced a lot of difficulties on the court, being a mother is probably the hardest job to handle. And it would appear that the job is about to get a lot harder.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar UK, Williams said “I think people need to talk about [postpartum depression] more because it’s almost like the fourth trimester, it’s part of the pregnancy, I remember one day, I couldn’t find Olympia’s bottle and I got so upset I started crying…because I wanted to be perfect for her….I hope I am [a role model], and I’m going to strive to be the best mom I can be.” Serena’s heartwarming narration of this story shows us how much motherhood means to her and the difficulties that come with it.

In a personal anecdote, Williams shared, “When you are a mom I’m convinced you gotta learn how to poop faster- or else your name is being yelled over and over again… 30 seconds or less. Thoughts?” Although last year it was only one demanding daughter, now that Serena and Alexis have welcomed their second daughter, things might get a little tougher for them. But you won’t see them complain. What do you think?
