Jessica Pegula has broken her streak of leaving tournaments without a trophy to show for her efforts. After an amazing stint in Montreal, Pegula finally lifted the trophy of the Canadian Open. Beating Liudmila Samsonova in the final, Pegula will now get to enjoy the prize money and the points that come with a Masters tournament. Pegula can also enhance her joy by celebrating her victory with her mother. Post a major health scare in 2022, Pegula hinted that her mother is now recovering well.

In a note released in February, the rank 3 told the world about the massive health scare her mother suffered. In 2022, Kim Pegula, owner of the Buffalo Bills, underwent a heart attack. The details of the scenario were daunting. But Kim is now back on track to better health as Pegula shares her recovery journey with her followers.

For Pegula, her rank 3 came into question when she was eliminated from several major tournaments this season earlier than imagined. However, she confirmed her skill with the Canadian Open stint. The daughter of the Buffalo Bills owner had a difficult road to the final. She fought down Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek in the final stages. 

Then in the finals, she achieved an even more massive victory with a score of 6-1, 6-0. After the match, Pegula overjoyed, talked about enjoying the victory with her family. She also briefly mentioned her mother’s health and how she will be able to enjoy it with her as well.

“I won Guadalajara last year, and that was obviously the same year that the incident happened, um, this year, I haven’t gone to talk to her yet, but um, she’s much more aware of what’s going on, and, um, in a much better place, so I think I’ll be able to share this more with her a little bit.” 

The Canadian Open victor further said, “I’m sure she probably watched and was very happy and, uh, the same for the rest of my family, so yeah, I’ll definitely be able to share that moment with her, you know, as soon as I’m out of here.”

Her family can breathe easily due to the improvement in Kim Pegula’s health. Last year, the tension was immense, but they can now relax a little more.

Tense time for the Pegula family

Traveling around the world, she caught the news of her mother’s cardiac arrest and how her sister’s CPR gave her more time for the ambulance to stabilize her. While it had a major impact on the Buffalo Bills co-owner, she is improving every day.

For Jessica, the following time was difficult as her anxiety was through the roof when on tour. But as her mother’s health improved, she managed to improve herself mentally. With constant improvement, she managed to bulldoze her way to the Canadian Open trophy. With momentum in her favor, can she go further in the following two tournaments?
