Simona Halep hit the headlines last year because of her doping ban. It was enforced due to the presence of the banned substance, Roxadustat, in her samples. After getting provisionally suspended last year by the ITIA, the Romanian player recently issued a statement against the verdict and asked for a fair hearing. Her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou who was coaching Serena Williams earlier has shown solidarity by reacting to her Instagram post.
Furthermore, he asked for a fair judgment so that his former player can get justice. However, the speculations about Halep not being aware of the banned substance are not turning the events in her favor.

The doping ban has hindered the chances of the Romanian player to participate on the WTA circuit. After her last run at the US Open, she found herself stuck due to the suspension. This was severe blow, given that she was playing astoundingly well after making a comeback last year on the court.
Her coach left Serena Williams to join hands with her and has stood strong even after her suspension. After her announcement of the ban of eight months on Instagram, she has asked for a fair trial.

Now the question remains should Halep be allowed to take an involuntary break with a lack of proper judgment? Or is she already been given enough time to prove herself?
Halep continues to vouch for her innocence

No matter the accusations or the backlash she has received, Halep stays clear on her take that she did not take any banned substance.
