American tennis legends, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, were the best entertainers of their time. The duo has eighteen Grand Slam titles each. Back in the 70s and 80s, they had an intense rivalry. However, outside the tennis court, they are good friends. Their friendship is still intact and in fact, grew manifolds with time. While working as a tennis broadcaster and commentator, both Evert and Navratilova still have similar opinions on most pressing issues.

Recently, a picture of the former POTUS, Jimmy Carter, went viral on the internet. In the picture, we can see Carter lending a helping hand in building houses for an NGO. Both Navratilova and Evert had a similar reaction to the news.

Navratilova and Evert laud former President Jimmy Carter

In separate Tweets, former tennis stars Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, lauded the ex-POTUS for his dedication to humanity. Carter has gone through a lot in the past few years. The 95-year-old still came forward for humanitarian work. Notably, the former president got brain cancer in 2015. Later, he broke his hip in 2019. Recently, he fell down at his home and endured 14 stitches. Still, he turned up to help build houses for an NGO named, ‘Habitat for Humanity.’

Sharing an appreciation post, Navratilova wrote, “Jimmy Carter- a true hero!!!”

Chris Evert also shared a similar post and wrote, “Tremendous respect”

Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the United States and served from 1977 to 1981.

Martina Navratilova comes in defense of Evert for her comment on Novak Djokovic

In a recent interview, Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic answered a question regarding his best rivalry. While Djokovic said that anyone he faces on the court, but he singled out Rafael Nadal as the one opponent he considers his biggest rival.

Further, the 35-year-old made a statement that they have played more matches than any other pair in history. Later, tennis legend Chris Evert registered her objection with a single-worded reply: “Oops.”

Evert was receiving a lot of hate after that comment. Her friend and arch-rival Navratilova jumped in her support and reminded people that they have played 80 matches against each other and Djokovic’s statement was clearly wrong. She pressed on the fact that the Serb claimed the record for tennis history and not men’s tennis history. Hence, it was right for Evert to object to the statement.
