Alize Cornet on disparity in ticket allocation
Cornet pointed out the noticeable difference in the number of tickets issued for games played on the iconic Center Court compared to those on the outside court. She revealed, “No, for me the biggest issue on this tournament was, yeah, the difference between today I played on Centre Court, and I had basically 40 tickets to give away. In my first-round match, I had only two tickets to share. That says it all.”
Due to limited ticket allocation, even his closest friends could not be invited to support her during the game, leaving her frustrated and disconnected.
Cornet emphasized the need for a more balanced ticket distribution system, saying, “Players on the outside courts deserve more credit. This tournament exists because of all the players, not just the ones playing on the big courts.” Her remarks shed light on an issue that extends beyond personal convenience. Wimbledon this year has also inflated the prices for food and beverage prices.

Importance of recognizing and valuing players on all courts
Wimbledon organizers have yet to officially respond to Cornet’s criticism. However, her concerns raise the question of whether the tournament can find a way to address the unequal ticket distribution across all courts. One possible solution is to revisit the distribution system to ensure that fair number of tickets are allocated for all matches.
Success of the tournament is not only based on high-profile matches on Centre Court but also on the dedication and competitiveness displayed by all players throughout the championship. Recognizing the efforts of the players competing on the outdoor courts does not give not only improve their morale but also the fans’ overall experience.
