It was the 2011 US Open and Serena Williams was returning to the tournament after missing it the previous year. However, she returned in style, making it to the finals. In the summit clash, she was up against the ninth seed, Samantha Stosur of Australia. The latter dominated the final against Serena, defeating her in straight sets to win the US Open title.
During the match, Serena vented her frustration at the chair umpire, as she was unhappy with the code violation given against her. Serena shouted between the point which resulted in the chair umpire awarding the point to Stosur. Subsequently, the American legend had an argument with the chair umpire, Eva Asderaki.

What did Serena Williams say to the chair umpire?
Serena didn’t like the fact that the chair umpire awarded the point to Stosur. She had an argument with Eva, saying, “Are you the one that screwed me over here last time? If you ever see me walking down the hall, look the other way because you’re out of control.”
Further, she went on to add, “You’re out of control. You’re a hater and unattractive inside… Code violation for this? I expressed myself. We’re in America last time I checked. Don’t look at me. Don’t look my way.”

It is not the only time Serena has had an outburst with the chair umpire. During her US Open final against Naomi Osaka in 2018, Serena received numerous code violations due to an outburst with the umpire.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion will be playing the final tournament of her illustrious career at this year’s US Open. She will face Danka Kovinic in the first round of the tournament.
