Naomi Osaka might not have had a good year on the court, but things were not that bleak with her earnings. The Japanese player became the highest-paid WTA player in 2022. But that is not it. Recently, the news of the breaking down of cryptocurrency exchange company, FTX, with which top-tier players like Tom Brady, and Stephen Curry are associated.

The downfall has led the company to bankruptcy with a $0 markdown.

Naomi Osaka gets affected along with Tom Brady and Stephen Curry with the downfall of FTX

The Japanese player partnered with the cryptocurrency exchange last year as its global brand ambassador. Osaka was to receive an equity stake in FTX and her payments were also to be made in cryptocurrency. Stephen Curry, Tom Brady, and his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, along with Naomi Osaka, have lost money because of the bankruptcy of the company. Tom Brady and his ex-wife had invested in the company but now even they stand to lose the agreement.

Osaka had joined hands with FTX in the hope of increasing women’s involvement in the field of cryptocurrency. This was not Osaka’s first cryptocurrency agreement. She is a part of Autograph, an NFT platform co-founded by Tom Brady. However, that might not work in Osaka’s favor as she is bound to lose money after the company’s dire state. FTX needs $4 billion to remain solvent.

Things might have gone down for the Japanese player with the bankruptcy of FTX. However, even then she stays as the highest-paid WTA tennis player in 2022. Serena Williams is also behind her, and Emma Raducanu is the third highest-paid WTA player. But Osaka has not been able to perform nicely on the court this year.
