The world knows about Chris Evert’s journey on and off the court. The former world no.1’s personal life hasn’t always been a bed of roses. Away from the glare of cameras, Evert faced several challenges that she overcame largely with the help of her indomitable spirit. One such deadly adversity was ovarian cancer- the disease that riddled her body and mind with vulnerability as she approached an uncertain future. Now cancer-free and healthy, Evert underwent surgery while she faced the bouts of this life-limiting condition. Recently, Evert extended a hand of help to one such warrior who is fighting the BRCA gene herself.

She decided to reach out to Jenna Wolfe, the popular Jamaican-American journalist, anchor, and personal trainer. As Jenna reveals she underwent a hysterectomy after being diagnosed with the disease firsthand a month ago, Evert sent her a heartwarming message that is sure to lift Wolfe’s spirits in these difficult times.

Wolfe recently posted a picture on Instagram that shocked her fans and followers, to say the least. In the selfie, she is wearing scrubs and a mask, sitting in a hospital. She penned down a long message expressing everything, all at once to her followers. 49-year-old Wolfe now runs a high risk of breast and ovarian cancer after testing positive for the BRCA-1 breast cancer gene. To eliminate the risks, she needs to go through a hysterectomy first followed by another elaborate surgery in two weeks.

While she wrote down this vulnerable message, Wolfe confessed to her wildest fears. “Am I going to be ok? Will I heal? Will I ever have the drive I once had? I mean, a big chunk of my life is based around fitness and wellness… I know I make it all look ‘cute’ on social media… but we all know it’s usually far from cute. Especially with kids.” The rest of her message is all about justifying these fears and trying to embrace them, as much as possible.
