$250 Million Worth Serena Williams Once Refused to Spend $695 for Daughter Olympia Over a Bizarre Reason

Olympia, the 4-year-old baby daughter of tennis star Serena Williams and Reddit Co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, is already making waves on social media. Sometimes, she poses as a model with her mom during various photoshoots as well.

Notably, Olympia has been in the headlines from the day she was born back in 2017. Despite Olympia’s star power, Serena has kept her daughter pretty grounded, as she once refused to buy an expensive designer dress for Olympia. Instead, she ordered dresses from Amazon for her daughter.

Serena Williams talked about a bizarre reason she refused a designer dress for Olympia

After giving birth to her baby daughter Olympia, Serena Williams once received a $695 designer frock for Olympia. Notably, she had an estimated net worth of $150 million back in 2017, and in 2022, she was worth around $250 million. So, she could have easily bought that dress for her daughter. Instead, her immediate reaction was, “Excuse me?’ I was so shocked.”

Safe to say, she sent back the dress without a second thought. Speaking about the reason, she said in an interview, “We didn’t want this dress because we don’t want Olympia to feel that she needs money to value herself or she needs a dress that is expensive to feel good about herself.”

“So after that we started ordering off Amazon and they look just as cute,” she further said. It is worth noting that Olympia is now the youngest owner of a soccer club called Angel City FC. According to recent news, the club is worth $100 million now.

Olympia will become a big sister soon

In the next month, Olympia will turn five, and meanwhile, her mom Serena is thinking of expanding her family. In a recent essay written in Vogue Magazine, Serena announced that she will retire from tennis after this year’s US Open.

In that essay, she talked about expanding her family, which was one of the main reasons she took the decision to move away from tennis.
