24-Year-Old American Tennis Beauty Takes an Embarrassing U-Turn After Getting Puzzled Over Her Love for Basketball

The American tennis star, Sofia Kenin and her triumphs in Melbourne Park were an absolute treat for the entire tennis community a few seasons back. Kenin previously reached the top 5 spots of the WTA rankings after she clinched her first major title. During her journey, the former Australian Open champion has solely focused on the sport of tennis.

However, the WTA player has recently made a surprising revelation about watching another sport, basketball. Due to the same, Kenin got herself into an embarrassing situation as she tried to act ‘cool’ about following NBA.

Sofia Kenin opens up about watching basketball

The American tennis star was recently asked whether she follows other sports in a WTA show appearance. Sofia Kenin answered by saying that basketball has been her favorite sport other than tennis. She said, “My favorite non-tennis sport to watch is basketball”

However, the WTA player was not prepared for the follow-up question as she was asked about her favorite NBA team. The former Australian Open embarrassed herself by revealing that she hasn’t really been following the game. Kenin just tried to act cool as she just thought it was nice to watch the sport. She said, “I don’t really watch basketball, I just think it’s nice to watch”

Apart from Kenin, other WTA players like Shelby Rogers, Madison Keys, Paula Badosa, and Belinda Bencic also opened up about keeping tabs on other sports. The Spanish tennis player, Badosa, revealed that she has also been following soccer, especially the top tier of the country, La Liga.

Shelby Rogers also named her favorite non-tennis sport, Ice hockey. In the process, the American tennis player also revealed the reason behind following a totally disparate game. She said, “My favorite non-tennis sport to watch,because I do not ice-skate, is ice hockey. In my opinion is one of the greatest sports to watch. Especially live. It’s so much fun. 

Rogers added, “A super fast pace, good energy the whole time. Lots of excitement. My team, my favorite thing would be the Tampa Bay Lightning. They just clinched the playoffs, so it’s a good time.”

Madison Keys, on the other hand, has only been watching tennis as she said, “Nothing, I basically only watch tennis. I don’t really watch other sports.”

The Swiss tennis player, Belinda Bencic has been a fan of various sports including skiing, and track and field. She stated, “I think it’s gonna be skiing and I also love track and field. For me, it’s really interesting to see how the athletes are also training, what they’re doing like in the gym. Like how explosive they are, how fast they are. Yeah, just it’s so satisfying to see them run. It’s like amazing.”
