Serena Williams was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She had to work and train her way to the top. Her husband had to do the same thing. The Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian worked ardently to make Reddit the new voice of the internet. And the tricks he used at that time to make it a popular website are something that he is still proud of even if people are coming at him for that.

Reddit became one of the most popular social media websites but this would not have been possible, hadn’t the co-founder used every path possible to find a way into the market. Recently, he reminisced about one such message through his Twitter.
Alexis Ohanian on using a witty trick to increase the popularity of Reddit?
The Reddit co-founder is one of the most renowned entrepreneurs of all time and recently announced his course on ‘Entrepreneurship’ on Master Class, an online education platform. However, one Twitter user questioned his credibility when he made fake profiles on Twitter to increase his following. He quoted his deed as malpractice and questioned him if he would ask the other startup owners to do the same.

To this, Ohanian proudly stated, “I love how you think this is a scandal. I wrote about this in my bestselling book over a decade ago. There were no comments yet, but yes I posted under different fake usernames for the first few months because in 2005 there it was hard as hell to get your first 1000 users.”

Managing and running a start-up might seem like an easy job for others. However, in today’s hustling society and with decreased attention spans, clout is necessary. And that is exactly what Ohanian did.
Being the self-proclaimed ‘Mayor of the Internet’, he knew the ways to find a way to make an established and popular websites.
How did his ailing mother help in shaping Reddit’s growth?
Serena Williams’ husband made his ailing mother his motivation when he founded Reddit. In an interview with Business Insider, Ohanian talked about his mother’s ordeal with terminal brain cancer.
And he would travel long distances to meet his mother regularly. But her illness did not make him weak but on the other hand fueled him to do better and that is how Reddit went on to become a success.
