Mommy Smash walked the red carpet at the 2023 MET Gala in May alongside her husband, Alexis Ohanian before announcing her adorable surprise. Draped in a slimming black, embellished Gucci gown with a white trail. The dress featured sheer sleeves and a deep-U neckline. She paired it with two multi-stranded pearl necklaces from Tiffany & Co. With her star-studded earrings and shining jewels on her extravagant outfit, Serena Williams turned every head in her direction.
While the outfit brought out her unique flair, Williams has long portrayed her trend-setting style. Her efforts were recognized and rewarded this season at the CDFA Fashion Awards where not only did she receive an accolade but she also stole the show with her stunning look. She became the first athlete to receive the honor of Fashion Icon from the Council of Fashion Designers in America while sporting a custom-designed outfit for just this special occasion.
Williams arrived at the American Museum of Natural History in a Lincoln Navigator. As she exited the vehicle, she stunned the crowd and the photographers with her astounding sequin gown designed for her by none other than the Chairman of the CFDA, Thom Browne. The dress featured shoulder straps with a sweetheart neckline. A long black, sequined trail followed the tennis star on the red carpet.

The custom dress designed by one of the most well-regarded designers also featured puffed sleeves that drooped from her elbows to her wrists, making a statement more profound than any bracelet or wrist accessory ever could. Williams further added an element of shine to her sparkling outfit with choice jewelry by David Yurman. The 42-year-old tennis legend wore diamond studded pearl-drop earrings and a diamond necklace with a flowery outline. With her hair pulled back and smiling widely for the cameras, the Queen of the Court was absolutely breathtaking.

Williams has often spoken about her love for fashion. Just before receiving her accolades from the CFDA, the tennis GOAT shared, “Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve used fashion as an outlet to express myself — fashion gave me the confidence to step on the court and own who I was, and where I knew I was going.” Therefore, it is no surprise that all her outfits are perfect to a tee.
