Emma Raducanu created history at US Open as she lifted her maiden Grand Slam trophy at the Flushing Meadows. Coming from the qualifying stages, Raducanu cruised through several rounds to beat Leylah Fernandez in the finals of the competition. Just recently, the 18-year-old registered her first win following her heroics at US Open.

At Transylvania Open in Romania, the Brit cleared the first round, beating Polona Hercog in a three-set thriller. During the match, Raducanu was biting her t-shirt in nervous moments. Following this, fans have started to compare Raducanu to the NBA Legend Kobe Bryant.

Emma Raducanu compared with Kobe Bryant

After falling in the second round of Indian Wells, Raducanu stepped in at Transylvania Open in Romania. In her first round, the 18-year-old faced Polona Hercog of Slovenia. This was just the second match of Emma Raducanu after she displaying excellent performance at US Open 2021

Unfortunately, Hercog took the first set quite comfortably. Though Raducanu started to dominate in the subsequent sets, she won the match in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. The Brit smashed four aces and won more breakpoints than Hercog.

The 18-year-old was seen biting her t-shirt during edgy moments. Following this, tennis fans started comparing Emma Raducanu with NBA superstar Kobe Bryant was a five-time NBA champion, who, on several occasions, was seen biting his t-shirt during basketball games. Moreover, Bryant has also clinched three Olympics Gold medals at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics.

Raducanu will now face Ana Bogdan of Romania in the round of 16 at the Transylvania Open. By winning against Hercog, the Brit would be surely encouraged and must have boosted her confidence ahead of the round 16 match.

It would be really fascinating to witness how Emma Raducanu takes on this challenge, as the Brit lacks experience on WTA Tour. Till now, Raducanu has just participated in three WTA tournaments and two Grand Slam events.
