The former world number one recently posted a video on her YouTube channel. In that, she talked candidly about motivation, and how the little things in life always served as inspiration for her and her sister. And while talking about the same, she detailed a common joke she always shares with the 23-time Grand Slam champion. 

She said, “Serena and I used to always joke that in tennis we would say carry me off in the stretcher but I’m going to do what it takes to win and we would always say that we were on a stretcher and we’d be like doing the peace sign right before we expired but whatever it took and that’s the attitude you got to have in life.”

According to the seven-time Grand Slam champion, not only did the expression ‘carry me off in a stretcher’ was an inside joke between them, but it also explained their attitude on the tennis court. Although the 42-year-old tennis star is always in a joyous mood and enjoys good jokes around, there was a time when she was offended by a bad joke. 

When Venus was enraged by a bad joke 

The NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal once made a claim concerning the elder Williams sister. He disclosed that he had a relationship with Venus. However, after some time, he clarified that it was indeed a joke.

The LA Lakers legend later apologized for his comments and clarified that he said it in jest.
