Recently, a similar concern was raised in on the global stage of gymnastics, grabbing the attention of their four-time Olympic champion. And now her compatriot, Serena Williams’ husband has hailed her as well.

Recently, a young black athlete was snubbed at a medal ceremony in Ireland. The discrimination has sparked outrage all over the world, with a clear response from parents of the young girl herself. Prompting official apologies amidst the massive backlash, Simone Biles made her opinion quite clear as she slammed the responsible stakeholder. Her rightful outspokenness received a thumbs-up from the 41-year-old American tennis legend’s husband, Alexis Ohanian.

A video of a young black competitor being left out of a medal ceremony has gone viral on social media. In that video, while everybody received the medal, she was the only one left out without a medal. Recently, BBC Africa covered the story of how her parents raised their voices to do things right for their daughter. On that journey, they also found the 26-year-old American gymnastics legend’s support.

The co-founder of Reddit, who has been working relentlessly to combat racism and gender discrimination, was impressed by the four-time Olympic champion’s use of her platform to protest against the discriminatory act. He took to his Twitter account and wrote, “I waited to comment on this because a part of me wanted to believe there was some missing piece of the story that would explain why it looked so wrong. There wasn’t. And this happened ages ago with no apology until this clip went viral. Good on @Simone_Biles.”

Ohanian has always stood up for black women to share equal rights by giving up his own, as someone who believes in equality and is trying to make a change in his own way. In that video, the little girl’s parents revealed how Biles reached out to them and emphasized their concern with a message. While the video from the medal ceremony was doing the rounds on Twitter, it also grabbed a reaction from the 26-year-old American gymnast. She wrote, “When this video was circulating, her parents reached out. It broke my heart to see, so I sent her a little video. There is no room for racism in any sport or at all !!!!?

She also stated that, in her perspective, everyone should be treated equally in athletics, regardless of race or gender. Nevertheless, first the four-time Olympic champion and now Williams’ husband, the young girl, is receiving support from every part of the athletic arena.
