The political tensions between Russia and Ukraine have majorly impacted the world of sports. One such example is Roman Abramovich, the Russian owner of Chelsea FC, looking to sell the English professional football club. Subsequently, the club spearheaded by Martin Broughton witnessed a severe bid war for its ownership. Serena Williams, alongside her friend Lewis Hamilton, is also one of the investing sharks eyeing the famous club.

What Does Lewis Hamilton Think of Serena Williams?

The 23 times Grand Slam champion along with the British racer invested capital of 20 million pounds to secure the title of co-owners. 10 million pounds each. Following that, Hamilton disclosed discussing the same with the tennis legend prior to the bidding. He said, “We did speak about it, we’ve spoken multiple times.”

“Serena and I are very close, so we’re constantly in touch. She’s a phenomenal athlete and woman. We spoke about it; she asked me what my thoughts on it,” he added.

However, this isn’t the first time the American tennis ace is making the headlines in London. At Wimbledon, she has won seven singles and six doubles titles. Further, she also claimed the gold medal both in singles and doubles at the 2012 London Olympics.

Serena’s Other Business Investments This Year

Serena Williams takes a special interest in sports-related investments. And so does her husband Alexis Ohanian. Therefore, they invested in the new Los Angeles-based women’s football club named Angel City FC. Big names such as Natalie Portman and Becky G have also invested in the club. The football club was forged in the year 2020 and will play its first league this summer.

Besides that, Williams Invested a sum of 1 million dollars in OpenSponsership, a sports marketing tech startup. Further, earlier this year, she invested in Karat. The Seattle-based company works to enhance job opportunities for black talents.
