Emma Raducanu is facing her worst nightmare. After a miserable year riddled with injuries, she hoped to start afresh in 2024 although that failed miserably. After the shocking 2024 US Open exit, Raducanu faced another setback in Korea. Now a renowned physical trainer has decoded her journey, explaining what went wrong in her career.

Raducanu’s 2024 season has been jolted with disappointments. After losing the 2024 US Open in the first round, the British star faced another injury concern in Korea. She hasn’t won any title since her historic victory at the 2021 American Slam. When the question arose why she had such a poor season despite being injury-free, a top physical trainer helped the fraternity to understand the situation.

She just doesn’t play enough matches. I’ve seen her train, and she trains hard, she works hard, there’s no doubting that. But you can train as hard as you like — if you don’t have that match fitness, your body is not hardened and robust enough to play match after match,” Kieron Vorster said to Mail Online. Vorster has trained renowned players like Dan Evans, Wayne Ferreira, and Tim Henman. Vorster also delved into possible reasons for why he said what he said.

He said, “I think there could potentially be a lot of ‘yes’ people around her, instead of people telling her what she doesn’t want to hear, ‘You know what, Emma, you need to get out there and play’. She’s a good player. That’s not the issue. But this abbreviated schedule is just mind-blowing.” Vorster highlighted how players often get occupied in the business of many people who travel with them during tournaments. Such is the case for Raducanu. Kieran Vorster thinks her unnecessary involvement in other things stops her from playing.
