Russian star Maria Sharapova was one of the best female tennis players ever. After her retirement, she successfully moved into the business world. As per her, she has realized that the sport and business worlds are interconnected, as she said,

“There are many commonalities with sport and business. And when you’re young, you don’t realize those things and you know, you’re just hitting a yellow ball with the racket and strings and you do it every day. But when you get a little older and you get a little smarter, you realize that tennis is not just a sport.”

Maria Sharapova On Working With Companies

Throughout her career, Sharapova has worked with many businesses. In working with such companies, she has learned a lot. She said,

“So, you know, over the course of my career, I’ve been a part of some incredible partnerships from the smallest companies to the largest ones. And what I loved about those experiences was that I was always a learning sponge…So when I would work with brands, and I would work with people that were much smarter than me I would try to extract their brains and incorporate it into business.”

Considering Maria’s success in business, her learning has clearly paid off. She has many endorsements from Porsche, Nike, etc. She has also started her own brand, ‘Sugarpova,’ and her own sunscreen company called Sugargoop.
