Formula One just witnessed one of the most horrific crashes in recent times. Frenchman Romain Grosjean lost control during the opening lap at the Bahrain GP and rammed into a barrier, causing a huge explosion. The driver is okay, and wishes poured in from WTA’s Elina Svitolina for the Hass driver.
The Bahrain GP is generally held at night and is one of the most exciting races on the calendar. However, a chaotic start left everyone gasping for breath as Grosjean suffered a massive crash right after the lights went out in the desert.

Multiple camera angles help in proving the magnitude of the crash, and the race was instantly red-flagged. Grosjean’s incident contributed to the first red flag in a night race, ever. One can’t really imagine the shock his family would’ve felt knowing that it was Grosjean who hit the barrier.

The car tore apart and burst into flames as soon as the 34-year collided with the barrier. Images of the crash are truly horrifying and depict why these drivers are indeed heroes to go out and do this week in and week out.
Elina Svitolina sighs a massive sign of relief following Grosjean’s crash
F1 is indeed a dangerous sport, but these drivers are in it, knowing the risk involved. We’ve seen many brave drivers end up lifeless on the track in the past. However, modern rules have prioritized safety, and that’s the way to go about it.
One can clearly ascertain the gravity of the crash from the video posted above. Watching it live was even scarier, as one could only see a huge explosion of fumes and nothing else. Likewise, WTA’s Elina Svitolina was watching the race when the crash happened and she couldn’t digest it.

Even though he suffered minor burns, it is indeed a miracle that Grosjean was able to walk out of the crash. Millions would’ve breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Grosjean walk out of the accident, visibly traumatized by it.

Elina Svitolina shared an official update posted by F1’s Twitter page and wrote: “So relieved to see @RGrosjean out of this horrific crash alive.” Her words would resonate with everyone who watched the incident happen in real-time or through the internet.

Grosjean miraculously survived in what looked like a life-threatening crash. F1 drivers’ families carry an extra bit of courage in their hearts, but a crash like this is impossible to fathom. It is indeed great news that Romain Grosjean is safe, even though he’ll be required to undergo a few tests.
