In her maiden grand slam main draw appearance, Mirra Andreeva made quick work of American Alison Riske-Amritraj in an impressive 6-2, 6-1 victory. A number of fans were seen rooting for the teenager during the match. After her statement victory, Andreeva went amidst the crowd to pose for pictures and sign autographs for the fans. After a while, she took out an item from her playing kitbag and gifted it to one of the fans as a souvenir before resuming her photo and autograph signing session. This gesture made the spectator visibly very happy.
Roger Federer would have been very proud of the camaraderie the young Russian already shares with the fans. Andreeva has made her overwhelming enthusiasm for Federer known to the world. “When I was a kid watching the TV, I remember Rafa against Federer. I was cheering for Roger. I watched every Grand Slam, all the time growing up. This is a dream to be here. I played juniors last year, this is just amazing”, she said after securing her position in the main draw of French Open 2023.
