Serena and Novak sharing smiles—Is this the most iconic friendship in tennis history?

The city of love is currently grooving with the vibe of the Olympics. To fuel people’s excitement for the event, the Louis Vuitton Foundation hosted a grand prelude ceremony that showed A-listers from Anna Wintour to Serena Williams on the red carpet. Not only did Williams impress with her second attempt as a host but she also charged up Novak Djokovic. His enticing smile hints at his confidence.

The Olympics starts today. However, the celebrities are arriving in Paris for the prelude of the quadrennial event. From Zendaya to Mick Jagger, many popular Hollywood names appeared on the red carpet. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Serena Williams hosted the prelude ceremony with Charlize Theron, Omar Sy, and Rosalia. Dressed in a black Louis Vuitton pantsuit and a blue handbag, Williams rocked the night showing her glamorous aura to the audience.

The prelude to the Olympics took place at the Foundation Louis Vuitton designed by Frank Gehry, bringing several athletes together. Both Djokovic and Williams were seen sharing a good conversation over a laugh with each other. In fact, a fan page shared an image on their X platform where Williams is spotted pointing towards Djokovic as director Spike Lee and the Serb were all smiles and laughter.

Djokovic attended the event in a blue tuxedo and a white shirt. He highlighted his dashing look with a pair of white sneakers and a signature blue watch. The Serb’s beautiful wife Jelena Djokovic donned a white t-shirt dress with black sandals and a clutch of the same color.

Williams and the Djokovic family oozed glamor at the prelude ceremony. Djokovic also has a prospect of meeting his biggest rival Rafael Nadal in the second round at Stade Roland-Garros for the first time since 2022. Referring to the Mallorcan legend’s prospect of retirement, Djokovic expressed his anxiousness over this exclusive sports event as he remembered the difficulties he had in the tournament in the past.

Djokovic expressed his excitement to get the opportunity to play against Nadal in the Olympics. He said, “It would be exciting to play against Nadal in the second round. I am aware that an era with Nadal and Murray’s retirements after the Games is ending, I feel more ready than I was before Wimbledon. I had many opportunities to win gold and now I have to start taking advantage of them. The fact that I am not a favorite for bookmakers is just a motivation for me. The Olympic Games have always been a great challenge for me.”

Speaking about his hard work and resilience for the Olympics, Djokovic revealed how he believes he would adapt well on the surface given that he played the Roland Garros two months before, Djokovic’s statements bring a lot of assurance about his preparations for this exclusive sports event.
