Did Coco Gauff just dodge a bullet, or is she ready to conquer the Paris Olympics?

Everyone likes that adrenaline rush, the raw energy and celebration after a hard-fought win but not every time. And maybe that’s why a little sprinkle of luck also makes a part of the fair play. Though some might argue against it, at the end of the day, we do pray for it. And some wishes got answered on the right occasion, at the Paris Olympics. Particularly that of Coco Gauff, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jessica Pegula. Now the question is, what exactly happened? The tennis draw is out for singles in both men’s and women’s categories. While some players received a dream-crushing draw, the 3 players were given favorable matchups to strengthen their Olympic dream!

Starting with the blazing-hot Carlos Alcaraz, who is riding high on consecutive wins at the French Open, followed by Wimbledon. The Spaniard is looking forward to creating history at the Clay court of Paris, and the draw has only contributed to strengthening his hopes. Though Alcaraz would love nothing more than to fight a strong competitor, some battles are better left for the finals. As dessert is best suited after the main course!

Joining Alcaraz in the lucky match-up is the US Open 2023 champion Gauff. The American tennis star has also been handed a really beautiful draw, such that she is able to breeze past without fighting against her compatriots, including Pegula, who have handed her defeat on many occasions. And her arch-nemesis, Iga Swiatek, whom she will have an interaction only through racquet in the finals, if things go well!

Among these youngsters, the 30-year-old Pegula must feel like a veteran. However, when standing on the opposite ends of the court, the difference in the age blurs and the only thing that matters is to win. And Pegula has won herself a lottery which would ease her journey to the semi-finals and maybe finals, if she gets past the energetic Gauff.

However, it’s not just singles that the youngster would be battling, they both would be playing doubles too. And if you are Gauff, you have another lofty mountain to scale at the Olympics.

Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz to fight their way through doubles too

What’s your perspective on:

Did Coco Gauff just dodge a bullet, or is she ready to conquer the Paris Olympics?

Have an interesting take?

While everyone is cheering Alcaraz on the dream partnership at the Paris Olympics, they shout, Vamos Raflitos! Gauff is ready to leverage her burning fire to tread through the dangerous territory, as she plays singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. This latter has thrown everyone in a frenzied state, as the quest for gold is one thing, but to punch this much above the weight could prove costly for the American youngster.

Why? Because of a few simple reasons. Firstly, it may be natural for Gauff to enter both singles and doubles at most of the grand slams. But entering in the third would lead to more matches than she had before. Secondly, her recovery time would be shortened as she would be playing matches continuously, hence giving her body relatively less time to recover. Thirdly, exhaustion. As Gauff looks to make it to the final of all 3, this could lead to exhaustion for the 20-year-old and might cost her the gold in either category.

While Alcaraz treads cautiously through the doubles, as he plays down his prospect of the gold match-up. Gauff certainly seems to be in an attacking mode. How far could they go in their battle for the Olympic Glory?
