The 19-year-old tennis sensation had an amazing summer, as she won her maiden US Open title under the guidance of one of the most prominent tennis coaches, Gilbert. Recently, the experienced coach, in an interview with the Tennis Channel, shared his views on the competitive process across the spectrum.

He said, “Five percent of the time you can’t miss and can’t lose to anybody. Five percent of the time you can’t beat anybody. It’s the vast majority of matches, those 90 percent, where a player must engage the mind and determine which disparate tools will work best on that particular day versus the specific opponent.”

Just like the way he expressed the winning spectrum that can be used on the tennis court, it won’t be wrong to say that he has more philosophies that have helped Gauff finally fulfill her potential. Subsequently, he also clarified that to win a tennis match, there should be an equal percentage of mind and determination put into it, apart from great tennis skills.
