Rumors of a possible romantic connection between Venus Williams and Opelka began when the two were spotted practicing together at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in France. While it is not unusual for players to train together, especially during the off-season, the sight of Williams and Opelka hitting the courts sparked interest and curiosity among fans and media.

Even though Venus Williams previously denied the rumors of the two of them dating, fans aren’t completely convinced of it yet. This is why they keep bringing up his name in conversations with Venus. In a recent Q&A session hosted by her on her social media channels, the same thing happened yet again.

Venus Williams faces yet another Reilly Opelka question

Venus Williams loves interacting with her fans now and then. Through Q&A sessions, she shares tidbits of her personal life and future plans with her followers. In one such series of questions, she found herself bombarded with a question related to Reilly Opelka. One of her fans wanted to know if she would ever play Mixed Doubles with him.

To that, the former World No. 1 Venus replied, “That would be a lot of fun but you know Reilly should focus on the singles. I am actually retired from doubles and I keep saying it.”

Venus’ response to playing with Reilly and her focus on singles events clearly indicates that she has no plans of teaming up with him on the court anytime soon. Not just that, Venus also declared how she has done it all when it comes to doubles tournaments. She made one thing very clear: she has no plans to further her career in them.

Venus reflects back on dominating doubles with Serena

Adding to the same answer, Venus Williams also said that she had reached the summit when it came to playing doubles. Having played and dominated with her sister Serena Williams, she clarified that nothing would get better than that. Hence, she had finalized her decision when it came to teaming up for doubles again.

Venus also added that as much as she would want to play with her close friends, including Reilly, she has no plans to do so whatsoever. As sad as it may be for tennis fans to not be able to see Venus Williams in a doubles gig again, the decision is possibly a wise one. In favor of lengthening her career, it may give her more time to focus on her singles run and her personal growth. What do you think?
