Wimbledon roof fails again! Should fans expect better from such a prestigious tournament?

Nothing seems to be working for the Wimbledon tennis fans and players. Not the famous rain charms for sunny days, and certainly not the plea of millions of people rhyming “rain, rain go away, come again another day” to the weather gods. Moreover, the unpredictable schedule of London clouds has led to fear and frustration among everyone. It seems that the thrilling match of Carlos Alcaraz not only pleases the fans but also the weather. Mind you, being on the Centre Court isn’t of much benefit to the audience right now!

It’s battle mode for everyone on the Grass court in London. As Alcaraz’s match proceeds, so does the headache of the crowd as they sit through an amazing grass court battle. At the same time, clouds sing the rain song on the retractable roof of the Centre Court. Moreover, it’s not just the Spaniard whose match got interrupted. Madison Keys is facing the same fate on Court 1, as she battles the French Open finalist to make her way to the quarter-finals. Everyone is fighting their battles, as this tennis fan tweeted about the loud rains:

This year, rain and Wimbledon have become best friends as the former is not ready to let go any chance of pouring down on the Grass courts. The everyday weather routine has ticked many tennis fans, as they take to X to express their frustrations. Sadly, their organizer, the Almighty, seems to be busy in granting luck and strength to players as they fight for the ultimate glory.

Tennis fans disappointment sees no end, as they gaze at the cloudy skies and rumbling roofs

Alcaraz has joined Ben Shelton in tasting the wonders of rain on the court. Though the former is lucky to be shielded by the upgraded retractable roofs. However, other than not getting wet under the pouring rain, they provide little respite for the onlookers. Tennis fans have resorted to reporting minute-by-minute movement of the cloud towards the arena. This tennis fan clicked the pick of dark skies, and lightning, as he predicted about the rain in the area. They said, “It gonna rain! 😅 Recent lightning detected in the Fulham area.” It seems during Wimbledon time, everyone is ready to be a weather reporter to make the folks aware of the forecast. As another tennis fan tweeted about consistent rains. He said, “We have thunder happening here. Absolutely pouring.”

However, this tennis correspondent went to the extremes to predict rain for the whole year. Eleanor Crooks said, “There’s been some wet Wimbledons, obviously, but can’t remember one where it’s rained virtually every day. The forecast looking like that’s going to be the case this year. Major headache for the organizers.”

Unfortunately, the initial words are nothing but truth. On day 2 of the main draw, Andy Rublev’s match was paused due to rain. Then Ben Shelton’s match, in both his first and second rounds, things got hectic for the American as he had to play two 5-setters consecutively, with no rest. Though the American went on to win his third round, with another 5-setter. And today, the rain greeted Keys and Alcaraz!

It seems there is no end to the rain during the Wimbledon. Now, the rains have become a mascot of Wimbledon. As this tennis fan tweeted, “Quite rainy. Is Wimbledon now?” Though nobody knows when the rain will change their timings that is favorable for everyone. But right now, everyone has one eye on the tennis court and another eye on the rain gods!
