“The slippery slopes claim more falls.” The Grass Courts are becoming the new arch nemesis for the players, rather than their opponents. Tennis players are doing their best to stay fit as the calendar takes a halt at the Wimbledon Open before proceeding to the Paris Olympics. However, the courts at Wimbledon and around have a mind of their own, as they claim one player after another with dangerous falls. And the latest victim is Coco Gauff’s French Open doubles partner, Katerina Siniakova at the Berlin Open.

The transition from clay to grass has not been easy for Siniakova. The Czech had a dream run at the Clay court, as she claimed the doubles title with the World N0.2 Gauff. However, today was not a good day for her. During her quarterfinal singles match against Jessica Pegula at the Berlin Open, Siniakova suffered a fall on the Grass court. The Tennis Letter shared the video of this unfortunate incident on their X handle, explaining her fall. As Siniakova attempted to smash on a returned volley, her foot slipped on the grass.

Siniakova stayed on the ground for a few seconds, if not minutes, trying to process her fall. It was not just a missed shot that led to worry, but as she got back up, she looked in pain. Despite the fall, the Czechian got up as she continued the game against Jessica Pegula. However, the match was suspended mid-way in the 3rd set, with Pegula leading.

Siniakova joins her doubles partner Coco Gauff on the Grass turf fall. Back in 2022, Gauff dominated her match against Ekaterina Alexandrova as she won in straight sets, with 6-2, 6-3. However, she also suffered from a similar freak accident on the slippery grass of Berlin. Gauff slipped on the grass court, but the World No.2 was all smiles as she got back up. She later said, “POV You do a ridiculous fall and have no choice but to laugh about it.”

However, Marketa Vondrousova was unlucky during her second-round match against Anna Kalinskaya as she suffered from a fall that culminated in a right-hip injury. The player has less than 14 days to prepare for her title defense at Wimbledon. However, if the fall turned out serious, it may rule out the player for the upcoming grass season, and possibly the Olympics.

Fortunately, unlike Vondrousova and their counterparts, Gauff and possibly Siniakova escaped the serious consequences. On the ATP side, Francis Tiafoe had to retire immediately after the fateful fall at the Queen’s Club. The slippery slopes claim more falls.

Jannik Sinner escapes injury scare as Queen’s Club grass gamble goes wrong for Francis Tiafoe

Jannik Sinner is getting ready for the Grass Swing. However, the Italian needs to be more careful on the Grass, as he suffered on the ‘slippery slope’ twice at the Halle Open. While other tennis players are being careful on the grass, Sinner dived on the court to save a point. This insane spirit is enough to blow tennis fans away, but not without worry creeping into their hearts. As Francis Tiafoe was not lucky enough to survive an unfortunate slip.

Francis Tiafoe suffered a massive setback at the Queen’s Club against Rinky Hijikata. Big Foe suffered a nasty fall on the grass as he limped on the grass to walk out of the tournament, retiring to nurse his injury. Following his fall, John Isner took a dig at the tournament. “Queens is undoubtedly one of the best events of the year, but the courts are diabolically slippery, especially on Monday and Tuesday,” he said. He also referred to Juan Martin del Potro’s impending recovery from the career-threatening fall on the grass.

However, if Andy Roddick’s words are to be believed, there is no need to worry for Big Foe. The timeline for recovery from such injuries is relatively short, and fans can hope to see Tiafoe at the Wimbledon Open if all goes well.
