The weather has not been that great in Rome since the past week. Even though it is sunny most of the time, fans have witnessed some frequent showers as well, which have suspended the matches for quite some time. However, this bad weather can’t stop players like Elina Svitolina from practicing on clay at the Italian Open 2021.

World No.6 Elina Svitolina has had a poor season so far. However, she can turn the tables around at the Italian Open 2021 as she is in the quarter-finals of the tournament right now. She is not wasting a single moment and fans recently saw her doing something extraordinary.

Svitolina recently practiced on clay while it was raining. She performed some forehand and backhand drills with her partner Gael Monfils.

The Ukrainian player looked really determined in the video and will surely prove to be a big challenge for Iga Swiatek in the quarters of the Italian Open 2021.

Svitolina won the Italian Open in 2017 after defeating World No.3 Simona Halep in the finals. Fans really have high expectations from her and believe that she can once again conquer Rome this year.

Svitolina hasn’t had a great season in 2021 so far as the World No.6 player is yet to win a title this year. Although she came close to winning a title on two occasions, she failed to finish well.

Svitolina reached the semis of the Miami Open and Stuttgart Open 2021. However, she lost in both of them to World No.1 Ashleigh Barty. The WTA Dubai Open and Mutua Madrid Open 2021 proved to be disastrous for her as she failed to win even a single match at both tournaments.

The Italian Open 2021 is a golden chance for Svitolina to gain some form before the French Open. She’ll surely be eyeing her maiden Grand Slam title in Paris this year and can do so if she succeeds in Rome. Will Svitolina be able to get past Swiatek at the Italian Open 2021?
