Coco Gauff’s US Open win was special in ways more than one. In 2019, after she defeated the iconic Venus Williams as a 15-year-old, the hype somewhat faded after her tough luck at the 2022 French Open. Come 2023, she became the first American woman to win the Open since Sloane Stephens in 2017. But along with this, there came a second force in the form of Andre Agassi’s ex-coach who made a comeback into the tennis circuit with the 19-year-old young sensation.

With 62-year-old coach Brad Gilbert collaborating with Gauff, she landed on her maiden Grand Slam of her career. Now, after the amazing victory, the US Open Queen is chilling. And her legendary coach too seems to believe in the old adage of ‘all work and no play’ making for a dull life. With his rackets left in the trunk of his car, the coach is spending time with his lovely wife.

Recently, the American tennis coach took a break from the sport to spend some lovely time with his wife. As the US Open was quite hectic for the 19-year-old tennis player and her whole team, now is the perfect time to take a break and relax. Brad Gilbert took to his Twitter account to share a snippet from his vacation.

He wrote, “Beautiful 🤩 night at Spanish bay with @mrsgnation in Monterey @ Sticks, enjoying the sunset 🌅 and without a doubt the best nachos ever had.”

Along with that, he also listed some activities that he is enjoying, such as having delicious snacks or enjoying the beach view with his wife, Kim Gilbert. Since the time he started working with the American teenage sensation, he has worked tirelessly without taking a break, bringing out the best results of Coco’s career.

In fact, just a few days ago, his colleague on Gauff’s coaching him – the other half – delivered his own verdict on the veteran coach. Pere Riba, in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, dished out the details on how the former coach of Andre Agassi tapped into Gauff’s potential.

He said, “Well, Brad is working like a consultant. He is helping to give some advices from outside. It’s really positive to have Brad. He is a guy who has a lot of experience.” Not only as a coach but also as a consultant, Gilbert has helped the 19-year-old tennis sensation do well both on and off the tennis court. Leveraging her mentality and training her to keep calm in tense moments, Gilbert has developed a strong bond with the player, and their labors eventually proved fruitful at the US Open.
