The joint ATP-WTA event is coming to a conclusion, but the unanticipated withdrawal of the Australian tennis player shocked the fans on Wednesday.
After Nick Kyrgios’ announcement, Ajla Tomljanovic follows in her compatriot’s footsteps
Merely 24 hours before the United Cup was supposed to commence; Nick Kyrgios’ withdrawal announcement came as a massive shock to his teammates and his fans. However, it was further compounded when another top player, Ajla Tomljanovic, announced her withdrawal from the tournament.
Kyrgios took this opportunity to take a dig at the Australian captain, Lleyton Hewitt; who refused to entertain 27-year-old’s excuses for leaving team Australia. Kyrgios wrote, “Mmm, I wonder if Stosur will throw her under the bus like our captain did for me….. ‘hard to prepare when you don’t know what’s going on.’”
The 27-year-old was wondering if the WTA co-captain, Samantha Stosur, would also respond in a similar fashion to the ATP captain.
