Is Coco Gauff's participation in Saudi Arabia a step towards change or a controversial move?

Former US Open champion Coco Gauff has gone “purple” in Riyadh. After positively aligning her fate with success in the Asian Swing, this player is now ready to go all out at the WTA Finals. However, before she could show her talent in the sport, her fashion has sent the social media into a frenzy – gaining praise from people including Tommy Paul’s girlfriend. As Gauff channels her inner diva out before the tournament, she leaves her followers excited. Will Gauff’s performance be as dazzling as her latest look?

Gauff is in Riyadh for the WTA finals. She expects to play against her former doubles partner, Jessica Pegula, in the Group Stage tomorrow. Before the tournament, the former US Open champion donned a beautiful lavender one-shoulder gown for a photo shoot with participants such as Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swaitek, Jessica Pegula, and others. In a one-shoulder lavender gown with a leg slit designed by talented Yousef Akbar – highlighted with a sleek bun and minimal earrings, and a watch, Coco Gauff looked exceptionally beautiful.

She took to her official Instagram profile to share snippets of her look. “my 3rd wta finals 💜 @wtafinalsriyadh thank you @yousefakbarofficial for allowing me to wear this beautiful dress,” she wrote in the caption. This post didn’t take time to attract attention and compliments on social media from people worldwide.

One interesting compliment arrived from ATP star Tommy Paul’s social media influencer girlfriend Paige Lorenze, who said to Gauff, “Purple is your color !!! 💜” Delighted with the gesture, she quickly replied with a humble “thank you❤️❤️❤️” to Lorenze.

Now Coco Gauff will play his third WTA finals this year. She confirmed having reservations earlier since the finals are held in Saudi Arabia, a country greatly under criticism for its take on freedom of expression and women’s rights. However, the former US Open champion changed her perception and revealed why she took a different path.

One of the things I said, if we come here, we can’t just come here and play our tournament and leave. We have to have a real program or real plan in place.”
