The disparity in viewership and other factors between men’s and women’s sports has always been a topic of debate and discussion globally. However, things have changed now for the better. People have started stepping up and supporting women’s sports as much as men. However, there are still many people who do not understand the concept of equality. Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian has always been a huge supporter of women’s sports, which is why he also invests in women’s sports teams, like Angel City FC.
Recently, he shared crucial information about how this time around, for the US Open, the viewership for women’s tennis was different than usual. Owing to the same, a fan talked about Andy Murray who, just like Alexis, is a true feminist.

While engaging in a series of threads on Twitter about giving the same respect to women’s sports just like men, Alexis Ohanian shared the viewership total of the US Open finale for 2023.
Imagine a world where men didn't feel threatened by the success of women's sports. It's not zero-sum, folks.
What's so interesting is that actual male athletes are generally hugely supportive of women athletes.

Alexis laid out several data-oriented facts about why people should support women’s sports and how the disparity is declining more every day. He also mentioned that ‘actual male athletes’ support women athletes.
Responding to the same, one of the Twitter users responded how 6 years back Andy Murray had shut down one of the journalists who had diminished the achievements of Serena Williams and Venus Williams during an interview. The journalist mentioned how Sam Querrey had become “the first US player to reach a major semi-final since 2009”. Murray had corrected the journalist’s casual sexism by saying “(first) male player” in front of the cameras and was applauded for it.

To which Alexis Ohanian responded, “Andy’s a real one”. By this comment, he meant that Andy Murray is a genuine athlete and a wonderful person, as he defended two women athletes who were not even present during the interview.
Further, Alexis Ohanian also shut down people in his tweets who claimed ‘no one wants to watch women’s sports’.

Alexis continued the conversation about how people sitting behind the internet talk about women’s sports so differently from the male athletes they idolize. Because the male athletes actually are very empowering of women athletes.
I definitely see it. I never watched women's sports as a kid, but thankfully I'm a quick study.
