Tennis has lost a star today! Recently, a former tennis player, Dick Leach, who was aged around 83, passed away, leaving the world with his tennis lessons. While the tennis world came across to pay their tributes to the tennis coach, Serena Williams‘ well-known coach, Rennae Stubbs, also stepped in to share her tribute on social media while acknowledging the 83-year-old coach.

While the Australian tennis coach has been a part of the tennis circuit for a long time, she herself has created a connection with people in the tennis world. Let’s take a look at what the 52-year-old Australian coach has to say about the Gem tennis world loss.

Serena Williams’ former coach mourns Dick Leach’s death

Being a University of Southern California tennis coach, Leach was quite into sharing his athletic knowledge with the young kids. But now the news of him leaving the world might have left the players who learned tennis from him or the ones who knew him sad and emotional at the same time. Recently, the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s ex-coach also shared her tribute to the 83-year-old coach.

She took to her Twitter account and shared a USC men’s tennis post that paid homage to the tennis coach. Along with sharing the post, she wrote, “Sending all my thoughts to the Leach family. What a legacy!!!” 

While the reason for his demise is not clear, Stubbs shared her condolences to the whole family and at the same time praised she referred to his ‘legacy’. Well, what did that mean?

Dick Leach is someone who has been named the ITA National Coach of the Year twice in 1987 and 1991. Under his guidance, USC has claimed three NCAA titles during his 23 years of coaching career. In addition, throughout his tennis career, he has continued to play competitively and has won 15 national father-son titles with his sons, Rick and Jon.

Not only that, the American former professional tennis player also established a family of tennis players who have played their part in tennis during their time. Nevertheless, he also shares a connection with Lindsay Davenport. His son, Jon Leach, who himself is a former tennis player, got married to the three-time Grand Slam champion, Davenport.

Subsequently, not only Rennae Stubbs’ but a lot of tennis fans also shared their condolences to the Leach family.

Tennis fans grieve Dick Leach’s death  

Under the same USC men’s tennis tribute post that shared gratitude for coach Dick Leach, tennis fans shared their part of tributes for the former American coach. A fan acknowledged him for his athletic prowess and wrote, “He’s a legend.” 

While another fan paid condolences to his family, including his two sons, “Good man. Love and prayers to Rick and Jon,” he added.

In addition, a fan grieved over the loss and wrote, “Another great one has left us. RIP, Dick.”
