Although Venus is not being able to play regularly owing to her age and injuries, she is still a crowd-puller. So, every match she plays must be broadcasted in the States, right? Well, that wasn’t the case today and fans, along with a certain Serena Williams’ husband, were not happy about it.

The former World No.1 locked horns with Qinwen Zheng in the round of 32 at the Western and Southern Open. She started off really well, winning the first set. Despite losing the match in three sets, Venus put on a great fight to put a smile on her fans’ face. However, most of her fans were unable to watch her.

After an emphatic win over Veronika Kudermetova, fans looked forward to this encounter, hoping for Venus to roll back the years again. However, the Tennis Channel snubbed one of America’s greatest ever and the fans were not quite pleased. Being one of the biggest tennis broadcasters, the Tennis Channel received plenty of flak from the fans.

The fans ridiculed the broadcasters for not telecasting Venus Williams’ match.

The Americans were forced to find different paywall streams to watch the legend take to the court.

A page that keeps tabs on Tennis Channel’s broadcasting confirmed that they were showing the Ben Shelton vs Stefanos Tsitsipas match.

Fans made their voice clear on the choice of match being prioritized.

Fans heavily criticized the decision of snubbing Venus for Shelton.

It’s crazy….who makes these decisions…“, could sum up all the American fans.

The Tennis Channel finally broadcasted her match, but it was too late.

It wasn’t only the fans who spoke up against the Tennis Channel. Venus received support from a family member as well.

Serena Williams’ husband joins the Twitter outrage

Serena Williams‘ husband Alexis Ohanian is known for voicing his strong sporting opinions on Twitter. As a pioneer of women’s sports and a fan of the Williams sisters, he contributed to the outrage. Although Ohanian did not tweet anything in particular, he showcased his support. He did so by retweeting a tweet questioning Tennis Channel’s choice of snubbing Venus Williams.
