Grigor Dimitrov just broke his streak of continuous lousy luck. In the first tournament of 2024, Dimitrov achieved victory after beating Holger Rune in straight sets and broke the curse of not winning any tournaments in more than 6 years. The world congratulated the Bulgarian star, including the Queen of the Court, Serena Williams.
Dimitrov came close to winning a title in 2023 and breaking the curse. However, he fell short as he faced Novak Djokovic and found himself on the losing end once again. However, he has stepped ahead of his loss and returned to the sport as one of its champions.

Serena Williams and Grigor Dimitrov were rumored to have dated before she met her husband, Alexis Ohanian. The rumors started flying in 2013, but both players did not validate their relationship publicly. She eventually distanced herself from Dimitrov, as rumors of him dating her rival, Maria Sharapova began flying.
Despite all the complications, Williams did not fail to congratulate Dimitrov after a hard-fought Brisbane International victory. The Bulgarian player has not won a tournament since the Cincinnati Masters in 2017. Williams shared the post (originally shared by Tennis TV) of Dimitrov winning the final match of the Brisbane International on her Instagram story. With it, she shared the caption, “So happy for my brother“.
While no one is aware of the terms on which the two ended their rumored relationship, the 23-time grand slam champion revealed that she did go through a breakup in 2013, which encouraged her decision to stay in France for as long as she could.

Williams reveals reasons for staying in France for 18 months
Dimitrov and Williams were rumored to be dating in 2013 and splitting apart not long after. After their break-up, Williams stayed in Paris for a year and a half. In an interview in 2013, she stated that she lost a round 1 bout in the French Open and then broke up with a guy whose name she didn’t share. However, she did not want to be in the same country as the unnamed person and hence decided to stay in the world’s fashion capital.

Williams eventually met her husband, Alexis Ohanian, soon after leaving France. Now, there is no bad blood between her and Dimitrov, and Williams even went on to congratulate the Bulgarian player for breaking the curse.
