Recently, Andy Roddick took to his Twitter account to point out a blunder made by a popular online magazine People. The people.com shared a story about the seven-time Grand Slam champion not participating in the 111th Australian Open due to injury. Although the information shared in the story was correct, the picture was of Serena Williams, Venus’ younger sister, who walked away from the sport in 2022. Additionally, having information regarding the elder sister. 

Taking a look at the blunder, Andy Roddick tweeted, “Who’s gonna tell them that’s not Venus?” raising an obvious question to his fans. Not long after his tweet, Serena Williams’ husband, the Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian, commented on the retired American tennis player’s post. And commented using an emoji for a look of disapproval.

Feels like the 39-year-old American entrepreneur is not quite happy with the popular magazine for not being aware of using Serena Williams’ picture instead of her sister’s. However, despite the blunder, the tennis world was still reeling from the shock withdrawal of the 7-time Grand Slam champion. What made the former World Number one take this huge step? The seven-time Grand Slam champion was scheduled to compete as a wildcard at the Australian Open. However, the tennis legend suffered an injury in New Zealand after competing in the ASB Classic. In addition, they revealed that Australia’s Kimberley Birrell will take Williams’ vacant wildcard berth.
