Coco Gauff’s days of sadness are finally gone. With an eccentric performance, the WTA star turned the tide in her favor with the season’s second win. Gauff who had a disappointing year filled with criticisms about her serve and forehand, surprised the fraternity with her resilience. After making history, she received compliments from Carlos Alcaraz and Rennae Stubbs, which showcased how much the community relies on the WTA number six’s talent.
Gauff made history in China. Yesterday at the Diamond Court, she defeated Czechia’s Karolina Muchova by 6-1 and 6-3. After a shocking exit from the 2024 Flushing Meadows, the former US Open champion bagged her second win this season after Auckland. Gauff struggled with her serve this week. She had to battle from a set down in her three previous matches in China. However, the WTA number six was determined to win the title and she took the trophy home. Post-victory, Gauff joked about how visiting Beijing’s Forbidden City with Carlos Alcaraz worked well for her luck. “I guess the Imperial Palace brought us luck, so maybe I will pay a visit next year to get the same luck.”
After her victory, she reveled in the celebrations and even shared a meme to commemorate the occasion. The Tennis Letter shared their image of visiting the city as how it started and then winning the title as how it’s going and Gauff couldn’t help but share it on her IG story.

Not just Carlos Alcaraz but Serena Williams’ former coach Rennae Stubbs also complimented the WTA star on X. “Huge congratulations to @CocoGauff on an incredible week of fighting thru adversity & showing us all how well she can play tennis,” tweeted Stubbs. She also congratulated Muchova, highlighting how she suffered a wrist surgery six months back and is still in the top 30. “Massive congrats also to @karomuchova7! Wrist surgery a little over 6 months ago & is back in the top 30, won’t be long before she’s top 10 again,” Stubbs added.
