Eugenie Bouchard‘s unwavering loyalty to Roger Federer has been evident, with the Canadian tennis player often declaring herself as “the biggest Roger Federer fan.” But in spite of her unwavering loyalty, Bouchard recently shocked everyone by praising Novak Djokovic and tagging him with a single word.

The 30-year-old tennis player recently posted a lighthearted incident with the 24-time Grand Slam champion on her Instagram account. As a precaution after a recent incident, Novak Djokovic can be seen interacting with spectators in the video wearing a biking helmet, as he walked into the Italian Open. In a humorous turn of events, Djokovic himself captioned the photo, saying, “Today I came prepared.”

Eugenie Bouchard, who was amused by Djokovic’s inventive solution, posted the video to her Instagram account and referred to the Serbian tennis star as a “Legend.” A few days prior, the 36-year-old Serbian had an unfortunate experience when, while signing autographs for admirers, a water bottle fell from a backpack above and hit him on the head.

Standing six feet, two inches tall, Djokovic fell to the ground right away, clearly hurt from the blow. However, this is not the first time that the Canadian tennis player has applauded the world’s number one-ranked tennis player. The former Wimbledon finalist, who is loyal to Federer, did not hold back when expressing her sincere respect for Djokovic’s incredible feat of winning his 23rd Grand Slam championship at the French Open last year.

In addition, she showed her gratitude for the Serbian player’s achievements and her sportsmanship by sending him a sincere message on Twitter. Bouchard wrote, “I’m the biggest Roger fan, but we all have to admit Novak is the undisputed goat. Insanely impressive.”

Bouchard showed her commitment to the 20-time Grand Slam champion last year when she joined his team in the whole Federer-Nadal rivalry. Her decision to do so was accompanied by a cheeky reason, showcasing her playful spirit and commitment to supporting Federer.

Eugenie Bouchard takes a stand with Roger Federer

Eugenie Bouchard claimed in an interview with The Globe and Mail last year that she prefers the 42-year-old Swiss tennis legend over Rafael Nadal due to a personal connection. Recalling a meeting from her days playing junior tennis at the age of sixteen, Bouchard called her encounter with Federer a turning point in her life. She underlined the importance of their conversation, pointing out that the Swiss tennis legend took the time to talk to her and give her a sense of value.

She said, “I’ve always loved Roger Federer. You are either Roger or Rafa. But you can’t be both. And I am Team Roger. He gives you the time of day like you’re as important and as busy as he is. I remember him stopping to talk to me and my mom. Not rushing the conversation, not being distracted, eye contact, pleasant conversation. Making you feel like you’re the only person in the room”. In addition, she was profoundly impacted by this significant meeting, which shaped her appreciation for Federer over the course of her career.
