The Roger Federer‘s much-debated brand investment has been under fans’ fire. Having gained momentum after signing Ben Shelton and later securing Iga Swiatek, ‘On’ is targeted now and then. Fans flooded social media with criticism after the company showcased an unusual tie-dye printing pattern for the Pole’s outfit samples. While her kits have been under scrutiny since the 2020 Australian Open, for furnishing the Pole with an all-white outfit; notable bureaucrat Anna Zofia Niezgodzka attracts her tribe.
Iga Swiatek debuted a new On kit during the Stars of the Open mixed doubles event at US Open Fan Week. The outfit featured a bold ombre design in pink, blue, and black. Maintaining her signature sporty style, Swiatek paired a short-sleeve top with a pleated-front skirt. On August 27, Tuesday, she also showcased a similar all-white and pink ‘On’ ensemble in her first-round match against Kamilla Rakhimova.

A countryman to the five-time Grand Slam champion, the Polish politician for the ‘New Left’ political party, humbled fans after negating their claims. Taking to her X handle, Niezgodzka tagged that pink favors the World No. 1. In awe of the pink highlights in Swiatek’s US Open outfit, the 35-year-old suggested the latter to rock the shade completely, contesting at the ‘WTA Finals’ later this year. “Iga looks so beautiful in pink… maybe she should wear an outfit in this color.”

For the unversed, Federer’s initial encounter with On came through his wife, who was wearing the brand. Seeing the shoes frequently on the streets of Zürich, Federer decided to try them on. The minimalist, lightweight comfort immediately impressed him, and he sought out the company’s founders. Then began the Fed-On partnership in 2019! Gunned down for selling merchandise way above capital, fans haven’t exactly been crazed with their innovation. ‘On’ was recently trolled after a fan posed a video suggesting how the Swiss’s funded brand goes about their designing process. Federer-led ‘On Running’ received kickback for Ben Shelton’s RG kit
Roger Federer is arguably the least controversial figure in tennis. However, his favored apparel manufacture isn’t. With annual sales of $1 billion and a roster of top players like Iga Swiatek and Ben Shelton, the rapidly growing Swiss running shoe company, On, aims to dominate the tennis market. However, the company has been receiving flak for introducing weirdly designed kits for players, an issue that reached its summit at the French Open. Notably, Ben Shelton’s on-court attire was subjected to mixed opinions, with most dumping on the young pro’s “terrible” outfit.

Rocking an attire blended with three shades of colors, fans were unhappy with the company’s latest collection. While a minority of opinions lauded the company’s holistic approach, social media went bonkers, blasting the Federer-backed label for furnishing the American with an outfit pattern that was previously rejected at the Australian Open. Regardless of the backlash, both Swiatek and Shelton have directed their focus onto their respective Flushing Meadows campaign.
No. 1 seed Swiatek is currently in action at the US Open, looking to add another silverware to her resume. After surviving a tough scare in the event’s opener, Swiatek is slated to lock horns with Ena Shibahara on Thursday, August 29. Meanwhile, Shelton made a commanding statement while commencing his New York run. After thrashing Dominic Thiem in the opener, the American stands to square off against Roberto Bautista Agut next.
