American WTA star Coco Gauff is gearing up to start her 2025 season in style. Gauff will join Taylor Fritz at the innovative mixed-team event of the tournament. Last year, ATP number two Alexander Zverev led his team Germany to achieve a remarkable victory against Poland in the tournament’s second edition. This year he is thought to be the biggest competitor. Canada’s Leylah Fernandez is also excited to perform in this prestigious event. However, this coming season marks a special for Gauff as it will be her debut presence. The United Cup’s official Instagram profile shared a video in which Coco Gauff spoke about her participation. Reflecting on her partnership with Fritz in Paris, she said, “I played mixed doubles with Taylor at the Olympics so I’m looking forward to improving that with him and yeah, he’s had an incredible season this year. So yeah, I think we have a strong team and hopefully, you know, I know we won on the first edition of United Cup. So hopefully you know we can bring that cup back, to the states.” This former US Open champion played mixed doubles with Fritz in Paris and became the first American player to win gold in that category. This achievement boosted Gauff’s confidence about her coordination with her American ATP colleague. At the same time, she appears charged up t0 bring glory to her country.

The American WTA star is excited to visit Western Australia. “This will be my first time playing the United Cup so I’m super excited to kick off the year in Australia. It’s always an honor to represent my country. I’ve never been to other parts of Australia, other than Melbourne. I don’t know what city we’re going to play in yet but I’m super excited to go whether it’s Perth or Sydney,” she said. “I think United Cup is such an exciting event and there is no other event like this in tennis and kind of in any sport honestly that I am thinking about it. So I think it’s really cool to bring both men’s sport and women’s sport on equal scale and equal competition and I think that’s something really exciting,” she added further. Her reasons were quite admirable for her followers to keep the United Cup on their watchlist.
