There is one major obstacle that every player is trying to overcome in the Tokyo Open. The heat is catching all competitors off-guard, and their matches are plagued by the issue. Daria Kasatkina was suffering like any other player and talked about the issue during her post-match interview. She defeated Despina Papamichail in round two and talked about how she was trying to deal with the heat. 

There isn’t much you can do about it. We’re using ice towels some supplements to stay hydrated, but you cannot fight against something you can’t control. I think in these kinds of conditions, if you have a roof, better maybe to close it. If you have these opportunities, better to use it than to make players almost die on the field.”

Since it is a naturally occurring phenomenon, tournament organizers are the only ones who can help players in this regard. The weather is warmer than usual this year, and it is affecting tennis players around the world. Daniil Medvedev is in the same arena as his compatriot.
