At times, life might seem dim, but support from friends can help overcome adversities. Paula Badosa did something similar for Carlos Alcaraz. After the ATP star’s shocking exit from the US Open, he drew immense criticism from the tennis world. However, Badosa came forward in Alcaraz’s support and cut through the noise of defeat. Alcaraz had a shocking exit from the Flushing Meadows after Netherland’s Van de Zandschulp defeated him in straight sets by 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 yesterday. Spectators who witnessed the match had moments of disbelief when they saw the 2024 Wimbledon champion losing against the ATP no 74. Alcaraz, who said, “It was a fight against myself, in my mind, during the match,” received much criticism for making too many errors on routine shots. These errors resulted in his double fault, pushing him toward the exit from the American Slam.

Badosa came out to speak in support of her Spanish colleague. Taking a stand for the ATP star, Badosa said, “I didn’t see the match (by Alcaraz) because I fell asleep, but then I saw the statements. It says a lot about him. You can see that he is a very humble person, very self-critical and that is why he is so, so good. Badosa’s statements revealed how much she admires the 2024 Wimbledon champion’s attitude towards his performance. The WTA star delved deeper into the matter.
