In an interview with Flashscore, the Czech champion talked about her personal and professional life. She hoped to last in the tournament for as long as possible and had no expectations from her game. Like Venus Williams, Kvitova is focused on enjoying the game and playing at her own pace.
The two-time Wimbledon champion was asked whether she follows ATP matches and if she had anyone in mind who could match the level of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. She commended, “I watch, I like Alcaraz a lot. He’s playing great tennis, the way he moves, the things he returns. And in what a way! It’s something beautiful, he can serve, he can volley… The game he’s showing is really great and I’m glad someone like that is going to follow in the footsteps of Federer and Nadal. That’s important for the whole of tennis.”

Though the Czech player adored and lauded Alcaraz’s game, she picked Novak Djokovic when asked who would likely win the Grass Slam this year. But Alcaraz is the favorite of many legends as he received many praises on several instances.
Legends who lifted the Spaniard to sky high
Not only Kvitova, but Alcaraz has got admiration from John McEnroe, Boris Becker, and Mats Wilander as well. McEnroe, on Eurosport, opined that none of ‘The Big 3’ players were as good as the 2022 US Open winner when they were his age. The American legend stated that Alcaraz is the best 20-year-old player he has ever come across in Tennis.

When Alcaraz defended his Madrid Open title this year, Becker was impressed that the ATP sensation’s punch and topspin were better than Djoker’s and Rafa’s. He also predicted that the world number one could be a great contender for the Grand Slams for the next 10 years if he stays fit and healthy. The six-time Grand Slam winner lauded that Alcaraz is re-writing the history of Tennis with his game.
Speaking to Macra in May 2022, Mats Wilander asserted that Carlitos is important for Tennis and that he has everything it takes to be a great player. He compared Alcaraz with his peers Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev only to hail the Spaniard as the best and analyzed that he could do whatever they could, but vice-versa is impossible.
