Coco Gauff has mastered her hold both over the Singles and Doubles categories of the WTA. Owing to her partnership and friendship, she has found her rapport with her partner Jessica Pegula at the US Open. However, the realm of mixed doubles is quite new and seemingly not very pleasant for Gauff. The American tennis star recently suffered a disheartening straight-set defeat with her partner Jack Sock in the first round of mixed doubles at the US Open.

Now, opening the prospect of the same at the upcoming Olympics next year, Gauff disclosed her few reservations about the mixed doubles. A star in the singles and doubles category, Gauff is dealing with quite a few issues when it comes to mixed doubles.

The American tennis star has made a name for herself in the singles and doubles category. However, she still lacks a tangible record in the mixed doubles category. Hence, she is looking at the plausibilities of finding a partner for the Olympics. However, for now, things do not look great for her as she lost in the first round of the mixed doubles with her partner Jack Sock at the US Open. In the post-match conference, she stated her ambiguous stance on Mixed Doubles.

She further expressed her dislike for the category and stated, “I honestly don’t know how many more times I’ll play this.” However, there is one thing holding her back from abandoning it. She added, “I want to play in the Olympics, so I need to find a partner for that.” Apart from the general dislike, Gauff opened up about other things that she dislikes about mixed doubles. She stated, “I don’t like being aced that many times.” Mentioning a second thing, she stated, “Also when the guy is too nice to the girl, I hate that, too.”

Gauff boldly added, “You can hit me, I can take it. So yeah. It’s little things like that that pet peeve me.” However, she agreed that fans might enjoy seeing the different spectrum of the sport on one court. But while the mixed doubles events might not have sat well with Gauff, she is making sure to make quick strides in the Singles category.

Gauff is all set for a face-off against the best friend of Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki
